Classes in Horsham

Horsham Soccer usually hosts the U6 and U8/U10 Youth Modules each July. We also periodically offer E and other Licensing courses at our facilities. These will be annouced on this page. All courses are open for both Horsham and non-Horsham coaches, but first preference will be given to Horsham members.

EPYSA also offers these courses at other clubs on a fairly frequent basis. EPYSAs schedule of courses is shown here.

EPYSA-USYSA Coach Education

Created in 1970 by the famed West German coach Detmar Cramer, the USSF National Coaching Schools offers fours levels of licensing ("A", "B", "C" and US Soccer Youth Licenses). Candidates attending the national coaching schools go through a rigorous nine-day schedule of field and classroom sessions, concluding with extensive testing on theoretical and practical applications of the game. During these 30 plus years of licensing nearly 10,000 coaches have earned a National License, but only 1,290 have earned their "A" license.

The USSF also offers the "D", "E" and Youth Modules, which are available through each state association. While the state associations are responsible for the execution of these courses, the curriculm is controlled by USSF.

Click here for descriptions of these courses.

The Youth Module courses are designed for parents who are new to coaching soccer and/or teaching and working with small children. The higher level licenses (E-A) are designed for coaches at increasing levels of competition.

Horsham Soccer recommends
  • U6 Coaches complete the U6 Youth Module
  • U8/U10 IM coaches complete the U8/U10 Youth Module
  • U12 and Above Coaches IM should complete the EPYSA E License course.
  • Travel Coaches should have a minimum E License course before taking a team. Higher level certification is encouraged

Horsham Soccer will pay for/or reimburse coaches for completing some of these courses with prior approval of the clubs board of directors.
